As the Sunshine State gets primed for increased use of solar energy,

homeowners enjoy numerous financial benefits

Foster City, CA – December 9, 2020 –Modernize.com, a leader in the home improvement and home services industry, details the incentives, rebates, and other financial benefits Florida residents can take advantage of when they install solar panels on their homes. Some of these advantages include:

  • Property tax abatement. Florida provides a tax exemption for the increased value that installing solar panels adds to a home. This also applies to the components related to installation, such as ducts, thermostats, and photovoltaic modules.
  • Net metering. Homeowners who generate more energy from their solar panels than they use can sell the excess energy back to their utility company for credits on their bills.
  • Residential renewable energy credits. Federal programs give credits of up to 30 percent on the cost of solar panel installation.

The complete study is available: Florida: A Guide to Residential Solar Energy.

Florida is currently listed as the third highest state for cumulative solar capacity installed, according to Solar Energy Industries Association. Modernize’s guide also shares resources, such as the Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency (DSIRE), to help Florida homeowners find over 100 programs that can save them money on solar projects.

“Florida is getting primed for a boom in the use of solar energy, and homeowners are already seeing the benefits of increasing home values and decreasing energy bills,” explains Gregg Hicks, vice president of Modernize.com. “There are several programs on the local, state, and federal levels to help homeowners pay for the cost of solar installation, and a qualified contractor can help people understand the policies and regulations that will save them money.”

Hicks is available to answer questions about Florida’s solar incentives and to offer advice on finding a knowledgeable contractor for solar installation projects.
